Delivering Growth & Profitability

Through Your Leadership Team

I help the CEOs and leadership teams of mid-market companies deliver growth and profitability in a fast-changing environment — sharpening your team’s focus, accelerating execution and building the collaboration that turns strategy into results.

Rapid market and technology change may be asking more of your executive team than ever before. Perhaps the moment has come to revisit your growth strategy and accelerate its execution. The route to faster delivery runs through your leadership team: sharper focus, quicker decisions and closer collaboration between its members.

You look to improve your growth and profitability delivery and would like, for instance, to achieve:

  • An executive team that adapts quickly to rising complexity and accelerates delivery of your growth strategy.
  • Clear alignment on growth and profitability priorities, with trade-offs made quickly and confidently together.
  • Faster collective decisions — decided together, committed together, followed through.
  • One team working across functions, rather than a collection of strong individuals.
  • A leadership team that takes real weight off your shoulders, instead of adding to it.

The starting point is to understand what is holding progress back — and what needs to change in your strategy, priorities and how your team works together.

How I Can Help

I help you and your team revisit your growth and profitability agenda, unblock what slows execution, and build the collective habits that deliver results — with your team fully in charge of the destination and the decisions.

What I bring:

  • 37 years of executive, commercial, strategic and organisational experience — CFO of mid-size businesses, CEO and transformation director — including board-level work on growth, profitability and delivery.
  • Hands-on programme experience. A long career developing programmes that support growth and profitability, and leading the delivery of multiple transformation programmes.
  • Professional accreditation and training. I hold a certificate in systemic team coaching and am working towards the AoEC practitioner diploma. Separately, I am accredited by the EMCC as a coach at Senior Practitioner level.
  • A wider view. Using a systemic approach, the work also considers the stakeholders, relationships and wider context that shape your team’s performance — not just what happens in the room.

How We Work Together

We agree the scope, rhythm and duration around your team’s objectives. A possible format combines initial conversations, focused team sessions and ongoing work within your team.

I temporarily join your leadership team’s working rhythm, taking part in agreed meetings and working sessions to help you address the issues as they arise — not only reviewing progress from outside.

This is a time-limited partnership: you and your team retain responsibility for strategy, decisions and delivery. I do not take an interim management role, and I do not produce a strategy on your team’s behalf.

Growth & Profitability Partnership

A tailored programme for teams that want to strengthen collective performance over time. Indicatively, this may include:

Diagnose and contract. Confidential conversations with each team member and key stakeholders, a team diagnostic, and an honest look at how your goals connect to your priorities. We agree the outcomes you want and how we will work together.

Align. A focused session where the team works on its real agenda — strategic choices, priorities, trade-offs, decision rights and ways of working — finishing with a team charter it owns.

Build. Regular team sessions focused on the live issues your team faces — growth decisions, margin programmes, transformation milestones — with space to step back, reflect honestly and strengthen how you work together. Throughout this phase I work hands-on within your team, and where useful and agreed I share practical approaches from my career so the team builds its own capability.

Embed. The team runs its new rhythm itself. My involvement tapers by design. Optional quarterly check-ins are available afterwards.

Leadership Team Intensive

A focused half-day or full-day session for a specific challenge or transition — preparing for a new strategy, resetting after reorganisation, or restoring trust and pace after a difficult period. Also a practical first step if a full partnership is not yet the right move.

Questions CEOs Ask

Who can help my leadership team revisit our growth strategy and accelerate execution?

If the strategy itself needs rethinking, a strategy consultancy may be the right call. But in many mid-market companies the strategy is sound and the obstacle is the team — alignment, decision speed, collaboration between functions. I work with you and your team on exactly that: revisiting the agenda together, resolving the trade-offs, and building the collective habits that accelerate execution. You keep responsibility for the strategy and the decisions.

How can I get my executive team aligned around growth and profitability?

Alignment rarely comes from another offsite with generic exercises. It comes from working together on your real agenda — your priorities, your numbers, your trade-offs — until the team owns a shared view and shared commitments. That is what the programme is built around, starting with a diagnostic and honest conversations, and finishing with a team charter the team itself owns.

What can I do when silos and conflicting priorities are slowing delivery?

Silos at the top reproduce themselves throughout the organisation. The work addresses them directly: clarifying decision rights, agreeing ways of working, and surfacing the difficult conversations the team has been avoiding — in the room, on live issues, with me working alongside the team rather than reporting on it.

How can we address margin pressure while keeping focus on growth?

Margin and growth decisions are trade-off decisions — and they are collective ones that belong to the whole leadership team. I help the team examine the options, challenge each other’s assumptions, and commit together to the choices it makes. With my CFO background, the financial side of these conversations is territory I know from the inside.

How is this different from hiring a consultant or an interim manager?

A consultant typically analyses and recommends from outside; an interim manager steps into a role. I do neither. I temporarily join your leadership team’s working rhythm — taking part in agreed meetings and working sessions, helping you address issues as they arise — while your team keeps full responsibility for strategy, decisions and delivery. The capability stays with your team after I step back, which is exactly the point.

How is this different from executive coaching?

Executive coaching develops individual leaders. This work develops the team as a whole — how your executives align, decide, challenge each other and execute together. One-to-one sessions for you or individual executives can be included where useful and agreed.

How long does it take, and how do you measure success?

The timetable depends on your objectives and starting point. We agree the outcomes at the start — both the business indicators your team already tracks and the team-working indicators we define together — and review progress throughout the engagement. The assignment can typically last three to six months.

Is this for mid-market companies like ours?

Yes — this work is designed for mid-market companies: owner-managed, family-owned, private-equity-backed and subsidiary businesses. The programme is built around your agenda, not a fixed methodology.

Do you work online or in person?

Both. We agree the right mix for your team’s locations and ways of working.
