Ceramics
Following my inspiration, I make small series of contemporary porcelain and stoneware wheel-thrown vessels in my own pottery studio.
In April 2018, I started pottery as a hobby and a therapy to recover from cancer-related depression. It soon became a passion and necessity in my life. For more information, please read the article “It all began with an idea to feel better”.
In 2019, I relocated to Stourbridge, and in 2020, I built my own ceramic studio to allow me to develop my practice at my own pace and convenience. I joined the Midlands Potters Association and formed connections with local and London-based ceramicists.
In 2021, I created a series of three vessels inspired by my own experience with health, other artists’ work and the different places I lived. I participated in four exhibitions, co-curating one of them. These exhibitions offered me the opportunity to develop my artistic profile, providing me with valuable feedback from the public, and to fundraise for Prostate Cancer UK through the sale of my pieces.
In 2022 and 2023, I explored more sculptural vessels and developed my knowledge in glaze preparation to be able to achieve my vision. I made pieces inspired by my visits to Kimmeridge Bay, UK and Japan, and exhibited them at General Office Gallery in Stourbridge.
I am a member of the Midlands Potters Association.
