Coaching Through Career Change, Burnout, Illness Recovery and Life Change

One-to-one coaching for private individuals facing major change and who want to move forward with greater clarity, confidence and steadier footing.

When life is disrupted by illness, burnout, separation, relocation, career change or a deeper sense that life no longer fits, it can be hard to find your bearings. Coaching offers a structured, confidential space to pause, make sense of what is changing, and begin shaping what comes next with greater clarity and intention.

This coaching is for private individuals navigating personal change. It is designed for people who want thoughtful support through challenging periods of life, whether that change has arrived suddenly or been building quietly over time.

My Story

You may be looking for someone who understands major life change not only in theory, but in practice. My own path has included two cancer diagnoses, two separations, multiple international relocations, a burnout and three significant career changes. I rebuilt and learned to thrived despite these challenges.

These experiences have reshaped how I see work, relationships, health and what really matters. They also help me recognise the complexity of rebuilding a meaningful life after illness, loss or disruption, and allow me to create a coaching space that is grounded, practical, calm and informed by real understanding.

Alongside this lived experience, I offer professional coaching accreditation and a rigorous ethical grounding. I am accredited as a coach with the European Mentoring and Coaching Council at Senior Practitioner level, and my practice is aligned with the EMCC Global Code of Ethics.

Burnout and chronic stress

Burnout often shows up as exhaustion, loss of motivation, blurred boundaries and the feeling that you are constantly reacting rather than choosing. Coaching can help when stress, overwhelm or unhealthy patterns have made life and work feel unsustainable.

How coaching can help: Coaching helps you step back, identify what is draining you, reset priorities, strengthen boundaries and create more sustainable ways of working and living. It turns vague overwhelm into practical changes in habits, expectations, decision-making and self-care.

Career change

Career change can be chosen or forced, and either way it can unsettle identity, confidence, direction and financial security. You may be considering a new role, leaving a profession, returning after illness or burnout, or rethinking what work means at this stage of your life.

How coaching can help: Coaching can help you clarify what you want next, understand the constraints and opportunities in your situation, regain confidence, identify realistic options and move towards a working life that feels more coherent and sustainable.

Relocation or major life change

A move to a new place can bring opportunity, but also disruption, uncertainty and a loss of familiarity or support. Coaching can help you regain confidence and direction during periods of change.

How coaching can help: Coaching can support you in settling into a new reality, making decisions with more confidence, creating routines, navigating change in relationships or work, and defining what home and stability mean in this next phase of life.

Divorce, separation or relationship breakdown

Divorce or separation can affect identity, confidence, finances, parenting, routines and hopes for the future. Coaching can help you rebuild direction, confidence and a sense of agency after relationship change.

How coaching can help: Coaching offers a non-judgemental space to process the practical implications of change, re-establish priorities, strengthen self-belief and shape a future that reflects what matters to you now. It can help you move from surviving to rebuilding.

Recovering from a significant health condition such as cancer

A serious health condition can reshape your sense of identity, confidence, relationships and plans for the future. People recovering from cancer often face uncertainty, anxiety, pressure to get back to normal, questions about work, and the deeper task of understanding who they are now.

How coaching can help: Coaching can help you make sense of this new chapter, reconnect with your strengths, clarify what matters most, rebuild routines, prepare for return to work, and create a life that feels aligned with who you are after treatment. It can support resilience, self-awareness and a renewed sense of direction, while complementing rather than replacing medical or psychological care.

Feeling stuck, overwhelmed or unlike yourself

Sometimes there is no single crisis, just a growing sense that life no longer fits. People often seek coaching when they feel unfulfilled, emotionally overloaded, low in confidence, or disconnected from their own needs and priorities.

How coaching can help: Coaching helps you slow down enough to hear yourself again. It can support clearer choices, healthier boundaries, stronger motivation, better follow-through and a renewed sense of purpose.

How I work

This work is a dialogue and a joint discovery process. It is not about giving you instructions or quick answers, but about creating a reflective space in which you can think clearly, understand your situation more honestly, recognise the wider context around you, and move towards choices that feel right for your life.

My role is to help you notice patterns, explore assumptions, reconnect with your own resources and identify new options. The work is thoughtful, practical and grounded in your reality, with enough structure to support momentum and enough space for what is still emerging.

Coaching boundaries

Coaching is not therapy, counselling or medical advice. It is a future-focused process that supports goals, decisions, behaviour change and personal development. Where distress is significant or clinical support is needed, therapy, counselling or medical care may be more appropriate.

Next step

If you are facing illness recovery, burnout, career change, separation, relocation or another significant life change, you do not have to work it out on your own. Coaching can offer a calm, structured space to understand what is happening and take your next step with greater clarity.

FAQ

What is life change coaching?

Life change coaching is one-to-one support for people going through significant change such as illness recovery, burnout, separation, relocation, career change or a period of feeling stuck. It helps you make sense of what has changed, clarify what matters now, and take practical steps forward.

How is this different from therapy or counselling?

Coaching is future-focused and helps you work on goals, choices, confidence, boundaries and next steps. It does not replace therapy, counselling or medical care, and where deeper psychological or clinical support is needed, those may be more appropriate.

Can coaching help with burnout or chronic stress?

Yes. Coaching can help you understand what is draining you, reset priorities, strengthen boundaries and create more sustainable ways of living and working. It is especially useful when you feel exhausted, reactive or disconnected from yourself.

Can coaching help with career change?

Yes. Coaching can help you think through career decisions, understand what you want from work now, assess options realistically and move forward with more confidence. It can be useful whether the change is planned, imposed or still unclear.

Can coaching help after cancer or another serious health condition?

Yes. Coaching can help you adjust after treatment or illness by supporting confidence, identity, routines, return-to-work thinking and decisions about what matters next. I am trained to coach clients with cancer and cancer survivors. Coaching complements medical and psychological support rather than replacing it.

What happens in a coaching session?

Sessions usually involve reflection, focused questions, practical exercises and agreed actions between conversations. The aim is to help you think clearly, get an honest understanding of your context and other parties involved in your change, reconnect with your own resources, identify new options and turn insight into meaningful change.

Do you coach people online?

Yes, I offer confidential one-to-one online sessions suitable wherever the client is based. Sessions are typically 60 minutes long.

Why work with you on life change?

I offer both professional coaching accreditation and lived experience of major life disruption, including major illness, burnout, separation, relocation and career change. That combination helps me create a space that is grounded, practical, calm and informed by real understanding.

How many sessions do I need?

Some people begin with an introductory conversation and then decide on a short focused piece of work. A common starting point is four to six sessions over two to three months.

How do I know whether this is the right fit?

The best next step is to book a free 20-minute introductory call. Arrange your free 20-minute introductory call. That gives you a chance to explain what is happening, ask questions, and decide whether this coaching feels like the right support for you at this stage.
